“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is fthe Law and the Prophets.”
I was studying this verse. I was looking at commentaries on this verse. I was reading a separate book with a section dedicated to this verse…then I received a call from my home owners association. Apparently I missed an HOA payment and the fines nearly tripled the cost. It was at this point that I forgot about the book I was reading, forgot about the commentaries I was studying, forgot about the verse I was memorizing and completely lost it. After calling the poor HOA representative back and apologizing for my actions and words I realized that studying scripture means nothing if we don’t put it into action.
We are called to treat people like we wish we would be treated. This is not a commandment for lowest level of treatment, this is the best case scenario. How we “wish” to be treated. This is the most practical application of how the kingdom of heaven interacts with the world. I learned that its also the easiest to forget.
